Technical Characteristic Of Gas Pipes:

Polyethylene Pipes represent the material of choice for most gas distribution applications in North America and throughout the world. For US applications their use is governed by 49 CFR 192 which prescribes the design of plastic piping. In Canada the operation is regulated through CSA Z662. Polyethylene pipe for gas distribution applications range from ½” diameter through 24” diameter. Typical pressure capabilities are up through 80psi for MDPE pipes and up through 125 for HDPE pipes. Where pressure ratings are higher than polyethylene is regulated to operate, certain polyamide piping systems have been approved for use in regulated gas distribution applications.
